Electronic Arts and Full Circle released their highly anticipated game, Skate (stylized skate.), just over half a year ago. Since its launch, the developers have continued to support the live-service skateboarding game with bug fixes, improvements, and, most importantly, new content. Today, the developers released their latest dev update, which lays out how they will continue that support, as well as teasing content that will appear during Season 4.
In Full Circle’s interview-style dev update, Skate‘s Global Community Manager Jeff Braddock sat with Executive Producer Mike McCartney and Sr. Creative Director Deran Chung to discuss how the team is improving San Vansterdam and what players can expect to see in Season 4. This includes a new area to skate, and the return of finger flips.
During the interview, Braddock asked about Isle of Grom access in Skate Season 4. Like Season 3, Premium Pass holders will have unlimited access to the tutorial island. Players who don’t get the Premium Pass can grab 24-hour Day Passes for 500 Rip Chips. However, Chung also teased that “early access to a brand new area at the start of Season 4” will also be available with the Premium Pass. Beyond its location in San Vansterdam, no other details were given. Chung did say that the “chatter” online from the community is “in the ball park.”
It is also confirmed that finger flips will be added during Skate Season 4. In terms of what type of finger flips will be in the game, it seems players can expect what they’ve seen in Skate 3, plus some extra “Easter-eggy” finger flips.
“So we basically looked at what we did in Skate 3, and saw a few gaps and areas where we thought we could push things further,” says Chung. “And, the funny thing is, we’ve ended up with so much variety we’re now trying to figure out how to label them all.”
Additionally, Full Circle confirmed that graphical improvements, in-game and IRL partnerships, and “fresh” new challenges can be expected in Skate’s future.
