On June 18, 2024, Nintendo revealed its game release plans for the rest of the year via Nintendo Direct. Clocking in at a little over 40 minutes, featuring a slew of first and third party games, there were many surprises to be excited for. From turn-based RPGs to classic platforming, there seemed to be something for everyone. Now that it is all over, here is everything Nintendo showed at this year’s June Nintendo Direct.


Mario & Luigi: Brothership

Back after a long nine year hiatus, Mario & Luigi: Brothership brings the series back with a vibrant new look. The Mario Bros. newest adventure will launch for Nintendo Switch this year on November 7.

Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition

A sort of love letter to the 90s competition of the same name, Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition features over 150 speedrunning challenges, a Survival Mode, and Legend Challenges that showcase 13 NES games. Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition is coming to Nintendo Switch this year on July 18.

Fairy Tail 2

Based on the hit anime series, Fairy Tail 2 is the video game adaptation of the series’ Alvarez Empire Arc. Developed by Koei Tecmo and Gust, this action RPG will release this winter on Nintendo Switch, PS5, PS4, and PC.

Fantasian Neo Dimension

In this turn-based RPG from Final Fantasy’s Hironobu Sakaguchi, follow Leo as he recovers his lost memories and unfolds the mysteries of a mechanical infection that is plaguing the world. Featuring music from legendary composer Nobuo Uematsu, the enhanced version of the previously released mobile game is coming to Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC this winter.

Nintendo Switch Sports Basketball Update

It has been two years since Nintendo Switch Sports launched back in April 2022, and Nintendo is still cooking up updates for the console’s motion-controlled sports game. Basketball is making its way to the game where up to four players can take to the court to shoot some hoops in a variety of game types. Basketball will be added to Nintendo Switch Sports this summer.

MIO: Memories in Orbit

In the metroidvania MIO: Memories in Orbit, play as the android MIO and explore a mysterious spaceship that houses rogue machines. It will launch on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS5, PS4, and PC next year.

Disney Illusion Island

Disney Illusion Island Update

Disney Illusion Island is getting a free update titled ‘Mystery in Monoth’ in which Dash Dolphin requires the help of Mickey and friends to solve cases. The new update is available today, June 18, 2024.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure

No, it isn’t just a made up game from that one World of Warcraft South Park episode. The cozy Sanrio game Hello Kitty Island Adventure is coming to Nintendo Switch next year.

Looney Tunes: Wacky World of Sports

Looney Tunes: Wacky World of Sports pits the timeless cartoon characters in a variety of sports including basketball, soccer, golf, and tennis. More akin to the wilder interpretations of these real life sports, like Mario Golf or Mario Tennis, it is currently slated to release on the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and PC this fall.

Among Us Update

Available now on Nintendo Switch, the beloved game Among Us is getting a new update which includes three new Roles: Noisemaker, Tracker, and Phantom.

Farmagia

In Farmagia, grow a monster army to take out the menacing creatures skulking around Felicidad. It is set to release for Nintendo Switch, PS5, and PC on November 1, 2024.

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD brings the Wii classic to the Nintendo Switch on January 16, 2025. It will be packed with 80 levels, including the ones from the Nintendo 3DS version, and local co-op.

Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake

Making its return with Square Enix’s beautiful HD-2D graphics, Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake is launching for the Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC on November 14, 2024. Additionally, it was announced that Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake will be released next year.

Funko Fusion

Funko Fusion is an action adventure game featuring franchises across various mediums, like Scott Pilgrim and Five Nights at Freddy’s. With over 60 playable characters and 20 worlds, Funko Fusion is set to release for Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and PC on September 13, 2024.

Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD

Originally released as Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon for the Nintendo 3DS, Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD stars Luigi and Professor E. Gadd in another paranormal adventure. It is set to launch on June 27, 2024.

The New Denpa Men

This game looks super weird. The New Denpa Men releasing for the Nintendo Switch on July 22, 2024.

Metal Slug Attack Reloaded

Maybe not the Metal Slug that was expected, but a Metal Slug nonetheless. Metal Slug Attack Reloaded is available on Nintendo Switch right now!

Darkest Dungeon 2

The hit rogue-lite turn-based game Darkest Dungeon 2 is coming to Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PS5 on July 15, 2024. It is currently available on PC.

New GBA and N64 Games Coming to Nintendo Switch Online

Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion is growing its library. These four titles are available today:

  • The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past Four Swords (GBA)
  • Metroid: Zero Mission (GBA)
  • Perfect Dark (N64)
  • Turok: Dinosaur Hunter (N64)

Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero

Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero is a gridless tactical turn-based RPG from Nippon Ichi Software, Inc. It will come to Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC in 2025.

Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics

Let me take you for a ride! Marvel vs Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics brings seven fan-favorite games to modern consoles. This exciting collection will launch on Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Steam sometime this year. Here are the games that will be included:

  • X-Men Children of the Atom
  • Marvel Super Heroes
  • X-Men vs. Street Fighter
  • Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter

Super Mario Party Jamboree

Mario is having yet another party on the Nintendo Switch. Super Mario Party Jamboree features over 110 minigames, and seven game boards (five of which are new), and the Koopathalon mode which pits 20 players against each other online. It is set to release on October 17, 2024.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

Move over Link, it’s time for Princess Zelda to save Hyrule. The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom stars the titular princess as the hero in a world that visually matches the previously released remake of Link’s Awakening. It will launch for the Nintendo Switch on September 26, 2024. A Hyrule Edition of the Nintendo Switch Lite will launch on the same day.

Just Dance 2025 Edition

Another year, another Just Dance. Featuring songs from Ariana Grande, Green Day, and Lady Gaga, Just Dance 2025 Edition is coming to Nintendo Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S this October.

Lego Horizon Adventures

Announced during Summer Game Fest, Lego Horizon Adventures had another showing during the Nintendo Direct. It is slated to release this holiday season for Nintendo Switch, PS5, and PC.

The beloved cat “simulator” Stray is making its way to the Nintendo Switch this holiday season.

Tales of the Shire: A Lord of the Rings Game

Another cozy game that was shown during the NIntendo Direct, Tales of the Shire: A Lord of the Rings Game allows players to live life as a Hobbit in the Shire. It will release for the Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC this holiday season.

Ace Attorney Investigations Collection

Bringing Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth and Ace Attorney Investigations 2: Prosecutor’s Gambit together in one package, the Ace Attorney Investigations Collection will launch for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PS4, and PC on September 6, 2024.

The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy

In The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy, play as Takumi Sumino as he defends his school from hostile enemies for 10 days. From the makers of Danganronpa, this strategy game is set to release for Nintendo Switch next year.

Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven

Originally released in Japan in 1993, Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is getting a full remake for the Nintendo Switch. It is slated to launch on October 24, 2024.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

The wait is almost over. Originally announced in 2017, Samus Aran will make her first-person shooter return in the long-awaited Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, set to release for the Nintendo Switch in 2025.
